Freedom lies on the other side of fear.

It’s difficult to see in the moment, but the freedom you desire lies on the other side of the fear-inducing obstacle you’re facing.

Think about all the past scenarios that created a sense of fear:

  • Going to boot camp

  • PCS'ing

  • Deploying

  • Promotion boards

  • Challenging projects or college classes

Going deeper, think about the before and after of each event. The fear and uncertainty before boot camp likely transformed into pride and accomplishment once you completed it.

In overcoming the challenge, you unlocked the freedom to move on to the next phase of your military career.

The same holds true for other events. To earn the freedom on the other side, it required action in the face of fear.

The promotion board led to higher pay. The project expanded your skill sets. Moving to a new base provided new experiences and connections. You acknowledged fear, stepped outside your comfort zone, and took action.

Imagine your life 20 years from now. What do you want it to look like?

  • Is it financial freedom?

  • The freedom to travel and make memories with your family?

  • The freedom to work a fulfilling job?

Whatever it looks like for you, it requires you to take action in the face of fear. The last thing you want is a future filled with regret.

Time is our most valuable commodity. Once it's gone, it can never be regained. You have the opportunity right now to prioritize and pursue the most important things in life.

Doing so doesn't require you to wait or ask for permission. Once you leave the military, you don't need a signed stack of paperwork to go after your dreams.

Your future is in your hands. Give yourself the green light to start creating the freedom you desire.
