If you traveled 3-5 years into the future, what would your life look like?

Is there a crystal-clear image in your mind or is it blurry?

It's easy to get so consumed with daily life that planning for the future becomes an afterthought.

This can be especially true with the fast pace of the military, where you're always focused on the next training exercise, mission, or deployment.

Perhaps you were proactive during your time in the military. Maybe you had a plan that laid out everything you wanted to accomplish. Dream bases, professional development schools, promotions, or college courses to complete.

Now that you’re pivoting to life after the military, how do you keep that same momentum? How you do create clarity around your goals, aspirations, and dreams of the future?

The answer to that lies within you. It’s the vision you have for your future. Your vision is the starting point for everything that follows. Once you have a clear picture of what you want to achieve, you can start outlining the path to get there.

Even if you don’t know exactly what that looks like yet, it’s never too late to start brainstorming possibilities. As you learn, grow, and talk with others, you’ll refine and evolve your vision for the future.

Remember, there isn’t a one-size-fits-all path during the transition experience. It’s unique to each and every person.

In the next section, you’ll complete a series of exercises to clarify your vision. You’ll revisit the various areas of your life and define what you want each to look like in the future.

It’s time to imagine what your perfect life will look like 3-5 years from now!
