Hiking and the Job Search
Hiking and the Job Search...
A few weeks ago I attempted my first 14er in Colorado.
At 13,500 feet with the summit in full view, I had a mere 700 feet of elevation gain left.
Unfortunately, that's also when altitude sickness caught up with me and balance became an issue on the 12-inch wide switchbacks.
Admitting the mountain won this time, I descended back to the trailhead.
Many people on the job search can relate...
The summit (a job offer) will come into view after an arduous trek (multiple rounds of interviews), only to come up short (another candidate selected).
This happened to me a number of times throughout the years, and it felt defeating every single time.
To the candidates out there: Never stop trying, no matter how many times you experience defeat. The only way you lose is if you quit.
